These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Trilon Apps Private Limited (“Trilon,” “we,” “us”) governing your use of Outpost, an app that lets you run your own VPN on your own Amazon Web Services (AWS) account, set up and controlled entirely from your device. By downloading, accepting these Terms, or using Outpost, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Outpost.
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) and able to form a binding contract. You may not use Outpost if you are barred from doing so under applicable law, including export-control or sanctions laws, or if you are located in a region where VPN use or our service is prohibited.
Outpost is software. It uses the AWS credentials you provide, on your device, to create, start, stop, and tear down VPN servers inside your own AWS account. We do not operate VPN servers, we do not route or proxy your traffic through any infrastructure of ours, and we never see your browsing. The VPN exit servers are resources in your AWS account that you own and control. Outpost is not a managed VPN service and we make no representation that it anonymizes you, defeats surveillance, or is suitable for evading any law.
You bring your own AWS account and AWS credentials. You are solely responsible for all charges AWS bills to your account, including compute, storage, data transfer, and Elastic IP charges for servers Outpost creates at your direction. A stopped (“parked”) server still incurs AWS charges for its disk and reserved IP until you terminate it. We are not a party to your agreement with AWS, we do not receive any portion of your AWS spend, and we are not liable for AWS charges, billing errors, limits, outages, or actions AWS takes on your account. Your use of AWS is governed by the AWS Customer Agreement and AWS Acceptable Use Policy, which you must comply with.
Outpost’s Pro features are sold as auto-renewable subscriptions and a one-time purchase through the Apple App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Any free trial’s unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Subscription fees paid to Apple are separate from the AWS costs you pay AWS directly.
Purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under its policies — request them through Apple, not through us. We do not control and cannot issue App Store refunds. AWS charges are likewise between you and AWS. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable.
You agree not to use Outpost, or any server you create with it, to:
You are responsible for everything done through servers you create and through your AWS account.
You are responsible for safeguarding your device, your AWS credentials, and your AWS account, and for using a least-privilege AWS key as the app recommends. You are responsible for terminating servers you no longer want so they stop billing. We provide an automatic cleanup (“janitor”) as a safety net, but it is best-effort and not a guarantee.
Outpost, including its software, design, and trademarks, is owned by Trilon and licensed, not sold, to you. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for its intended purpose. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
Our handling of information is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms. In short, Outpost requires no account and we collect no personal information; your AWS credentials stay in your device’s Keychain.
Outpost relies on services provided by Amazon Web Services and Apple. Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms, and we are not responsible for them.
Outpost is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app or any server you create will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that it will provide any particular level of privacy, anonymity, speed, or availability. VPN connections can drop or be blocked, and some networks or apps may not work over a VPN.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Trilon will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, or for any AWS charges incurred on your account. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to Outpost will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us (through Apple) for the app in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50.
You agree to indemnify and hold Trilon harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of Outpost, your AWS account or its charges, your content or traffic, or your breach of these Terms or any law.
You may stop using Outpost at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the app unlawfully. On termination you should terminate any servers you created so they stop billing; your relationship with AWS and Apple continues under their terms.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, ask you to accept again in the app. Your continued use of Outpost after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of Bengaluru, India will have jurisdiction, except where mandatory local consumer-protection law gives you other rights.
